Asian Counseling and Referral Services is a non-profit organization whose annual budget is over $1.4 million. The organization has a fund development team led by a Development Director and contracts with Allison Shirk Grantwriting for select grants, such as the Bank of America Neighborhood Builder’s Award, or times when there are multiple large grants due during the same time. I am able to respond on short notice to assist this organization when needed and contact on a project basis. |
Starlight Children’s Foundation Northwest |

Starlight is a lean organization with only four full time staff persons. Their fund development team is led by a Development Director with the assistance of several college interns. Starlight contracts with Allison Shirk Grantwriting to oversee their grants management year round. The contract is based on a retainer for an average of 20-30 hours per month. With this arrangement, I am able work from a grants calendar to bring revenue from grants year round. We met our grantwriting revenue goal by early October. |
Vashon Youth and Family Services |

Vashon Youth and Family Services is a small non-profit charged with responding to the diverse needs of the community it resides on Vashon Island, Washington. The organization’s fund development is led by the Executive Director. VYFS contracts with Allison Shirk Grantwriting to oversee their grants management year round. The contract is based on a retainer for an average of 20-30 hours per month. The scope of services ranges from grants management to facilitating program and organizational capacity building. |
Vashon Park District |

Vashon Park District is a quasi municipality that operates on funding from a tax levy. The organization has a lean staff and contracts with Allison Shirk Grantwriting to create additional revenue and resources for its wide variety of services and facilities. Grants written have preserved a sphagnum bog in collaboration with the Vashon Island Land Trust, renovated the windows at the Pt. Robinson Lightstation, and have raised funds for a $1.3 million capital campaign for athletic fields renovation. In addition, grants have helped fund the development of a skatepark, a new stage and sound equipment, and concerts and theater in the park. Vashon Park District contracts with Allison Shirk Grantwriting on an hourly basis. |
